My friend Diane and I met for dinner at Luigi’s in the historic liberty square. I love Italian food but I am often disappointed especially after having traveled in Italy. The restaurant was fairly small but nicely decorated complete with white tablecloths and a wine bar. The bread and oil they brought out was just okay… I prefer crusty Italian bread and these were softer rolls, and the dipping sauce, while pretty tasty, has balsamic vinegar to make it sweeter and I just prefer a more savory olive oil. Just my personal preference – others may love it! The house Chianti was amazing! I always have a difficult time between the chicken piccata, which I love, and pasta with red sauce, which can be divine or horrible depending on where you are. The struggle is real! I chose the chicken piccata and ordered a tiny sample of the red sauce – that would be the determining factor about whether I will try Luigi’s again. Diane ordered the shrimp scampi. Both dishes looked amazing and I really enjoyed the chicken – it was cooked to perfection and I ate every lasts bite. I couldn’t leave without trying the tiramisu – and it was absolutely to die for. I really could have licked the plate on this one. As for the red sauce, it was wonderful and I hope to be back soon to try the pasta.
